Charade
Do consultants not sleep? I passed out around 12:30 and awoke to nearly a dozen Teams messages. The sender is in my timezone. Poor bastard. A lot of them seem to chug the corporate Kool-Aid.
In a matter of minutes yesterday, my carefree, do-nothing job turned into hour-by-hour babysitting of grown people. Dress rehearsal for a major technology transformation project, and it’s not looking good for the real deal.
I dread these Teams calls. Pretending to care, the ridiculous pseudo-business lingo: it’s all a chore. It’s been so long since I did anything meaningful, I’ve forgotten what it feels like.
Honestly though, it’s stupid to complain. I get paid a healthy six figures to sit in front of a computer. Over eight years with this company, and I’m still only pretending to know what’s going on. Just goes to show, everything is bullshit. The gift of gab and a bit of acting take you far in the corporate world.
