Capitalist Caesarian
For all my bluster about the evils of consumerism and the meaninglessness of it all, I’m just as much a dopamine addict as the next guy. The Ring goes off, and there I am with the hobby knife, eager to carve out my reward. A capitalist caesarian.
First, a new wallet from a leather shop in Alabama. Initials subtly embossed on full-grain. The smells. Definitely an old man thing to be excited about.
Then I attacked a box from Japan to find a pristine Olympus 35 RC. As usual, it was beautifully and intentionally packaged, with a little origami crane and a new 500-yen coin to open the battery cover.
Now I just need to learn how to use the damn thing. I’ve ordered a battery for the light meter and some Kodak Gold 200 to test it out. I’m watching videos about the exposure triangle and I feel like a fucking idiot. Maybe I’m a point-and-shoot guy after all.
